Easter eggs are not all edible! There is a long tradition of giving eggs as presents at Easter made of precious metals. These novelty eggs have become extremely collectable . A good egg example is a 13cm tall silver mushroom with an Easter egg inside made by silversmith Christopher Nigel Lawrence, hall-marked London, 1981. At the time of writing this is for sale at £350 amongst the stock of Chelsea jeweller Ian Towning at Bourbon Hanby Arcade, opposite the Old Town Hall in King’s Road, London. Enquiries telephone 0207 352 2106.
