Victorian Irish Silver Dish Potato Ring


A lovely large Victorian Irish silver dish ring with his original blue glass liner. Nicely decorated with stags and dogs scene, a large vacant cartouche framed with leaves and flowers.  This kind of large silver dishes were made in the late 16th century and their use was to help the heat escape from this style of decoration from hot table dishes placed on top. The hand blown glass liner were a later addition.  Hallmarked for Dublin 1899-1900, makers Edmond Johnson. Ring and liner are in excellent condition.
